Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S. today launched a comprehensive free resource for tracking state and federal laws, executive orders, and regulations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, built using WK’s Smart Chart technology that allows users to easily filter by parameters such as jurisdictions and topics to create custom summaries.

WK says it is providing the COVID-19 Smart Chart free of charge, available on the open web without even requiring registration, in order to support legal and compliance professionals during these uncertain times.

All documents linked through the tool are also on the open web and users can freely email content found in a Smart Chart or download the chart as a Microsoft Excel file.

The Smart Chart, which will be formally announced tomorrow morning, is launching with information on six top-level topics (with some three-dozen subtopics):

  • Labor & Employment/HR & Benefits.
  • Health & Infectious Disease.
  • Banking & Finance.
  • Tax.
  • Securities.
  • Executive Orders & Proclamations.

On April 14, it will add three additional topics:

  • Small Business Administration.
  • Education.
  • Stimulus Package.

The Smart Chart allows a user to first select the topics and subtopics that interest them, and then the jurisdictions to compare. Within seconds, the tool generates a custom set of results.

Notably, if a jurisdiction has taken no action on a particular topic, it also tells you that. You can see this in the screen capture at the top of this page, where it shows that the federal government has not issued a stay-at-home order.

The tool covers federal resources as well as all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Resources are updated three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

“Legal developments related to COVID-19 are changing nearly every day, and the sheer amount of information available is making it far more difficult for professionals to understand and comply with rules at different levels of government,” said Ken Crutchfield, vice president and general manager of legal markets for Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S.

“We are pleased to bring this complimentary Smart Chart to the market to directly address these pain points and help professionals to understand how the pandemic – and the government’s subsequent actions – impact them.”
