Alt Legal, the cloud-based trademark docketing software company, and Clarivate Plc, a leading global provider of information and insights, particularly in the area of intellectual property, today announced a partnership to integrate Clarivate’s CompuMark international trademark data into the Alt Legal platform, giving Alt Legal customers access to CompuMark and its 186 trademark databases, covering all jurisdictions in the world.

As a result of the partnership, Alt Legal said, its software will now provide customers with automatic updates for trademark filings and registrations in every jurisdiction in the world.

The integration also enables Alt Legal to now alert customers of changes to docketed trademarks and calculate renewal deadlines upon registration, saving customers time and reducing the risk of human error.

Until now, Alt Legal’s docketing platform has focused on U.S. and Canadian trademark portfolios, with direct connections to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO).

But Nehal Madhani, Alt Legal’s CEO, told me that customers have been asking the company to broaden its international reach. While customers have been able to manage and track trademarks in any jurisdiction, they had to manually input any updates from jurisdictions other than the U.S. and Canada.

The partnership announced today answers those customers’ requests by providing international integration with all other jurisdictions. Now, when CompuMark receives an update to a trademark in any jurisdiction, Alt Legal’s customers will be notified and the update will be made automatically.

“We are thrilled to take the reputation we’ve built around making trademark professionals’ lives easier through automation, design, and support and combine it with CompuMark and its best-in-class international trademark data, for complete international portfolio management,” Madhani said.

“Alt Legal’s customers will strongly benefit from the convenience of accessing CompuMark and its extensive trademark database of foreign jurisdictions directly from their dashboard,” Jeff Roy, president, IP Group, Clarivate, said in a statement. “We applaud Alt Legal’s continued focus on building automation into their platform.”

Alt Legal’s platform automatically detects and updates customers’ trademark filings and all statutory deadlines without the need for manual input. It also enables customers to create IP docket reports and to draft and file TEAS applications.
