AltaClaro, a company that has developed a unique experiential training platform for lawyers, has raised a $2.5 million seed preferred financing round to further develop its product and expand its market share.

The financing round was led by Bryce Catalyst, a legal tech fund whose founding partner Cary Burch is the former chief innovation officer of Thomson Reuters. With this investment, Burch joins Alta Claro’s board of directors.

Bryce also recently invested in legal technology platform Reynen Court. Other legal tech companies in its portfolio are dealcloser and due diligence company Vital4.

Other investors include LearnStart, the seed-stage investment arm of LearnCapital, whose investments include companies such as Coursera and global law firm Orrick’s Legal Technology Innovation Initiative.

As AltaClaro’s founder and CEO Abdi Shayesteh described in an episode of my LawNext podcast last year, the company describes itself as “rocket fuel for legal skills training.”

Using a unique experiential framework based on education science, with mock transactions and live feedback, all done online, it aims to deliver practical skills training for lawyers.

Launched in 2017, the company today provides training for some of the largest law firms in the world.
