Three weeks after investment firm Alpine SG merged two practice-management companies it acquired, PracticePanther and Bill4Time, to create a unified legal technology business, ASG LegalTech, the firm is today announcing the acquisition of another practice management company, Merus Inc., developer of MerusCase.
Founded in 2008, MerusCase is a cloud-based case management platform designed as a comprehensive and fully integrated system suitable for small- to medium-sized firms. The company says its software has processed over a billion documents and manages millions of active cases every day.
Its standard features include fully integrated email, calendaring, time tracking, billing, document management, document automation, and batch-document scanning. It also offers features tailored to specific practice areas, including employment law, immigration law, personal injury, and workers’ compensation. Merus says its system is fully HIPAA compliant.
Alpine said that MerusCase will join PracticePanther and Bill4Time as part of the recently formed ASG LegalTech business, which is led by Soumya Nettimi, who was named CEO of PracticePanther last October and then of ASG LegalTech in February.
Johnny Fuery, MerusCase founder and chief executive officer, and Shane Means, chief operating officer, will stay on through the transition but will phase out later this year.
MerusCase sells for $39 per user per month, billed annually. According to Crunchbase, Merus has annual revenue of $443,000, but the company says its revenue is “orders of magnitude higher” than that.
