Aderant, a global provider of business management software for law firms, has acquired docketing technology and rules-based calendaring company American LegalNet (ALN).

Aderant began notifying customers by email today of the acquisition, and the ALN website now carries the Aderant logo.

ALN offers a cloud-based national docketing and calendaring product, as well as a variety of standalone products for docketing, calendaring, document delivery, dockets alerts, e-filing, and forms creation.

Aderant has its own rules-based calendaring product, CompuLaw, which it acquired in 2011, and which originally was introduced to the legal market some 40 years ago.

In an email to customers today, Aderant’s President and CEO Chris Cartrett, said:

“Aderant is pleased to announce the acquisition of American LegalNet (ALN), a major industry player in the calendaring, docketing, and matter management space for the past 25 years. The release of their native-cloud product in March 2021, ALN Cloud, has further defined them as a true leader in legal tech.

“Aderant is committed to bringing the best products to market throughout the legal industry. With the acquisition of ALN, Aderant further expands our footprint in our practice of law solutions with the addition of eDockets, Forms WorkFlow, Smart Dockets, Docket Alerts and eFiling Portal.”

Cartrett took over as CEO just yesterday, as I reported then.

ALN remains involved in a lawsuit filed last year by CourtAlert.com alleging that the company conspired to steal CourtAlert’s confidential and proprietary information.
